*The Verge of War* A Medieval Rp

Edwin backed away. "Alena, do you realize for talking to royalty this way, it could mean a death sentence? And do you know why I intend to help you?" He asked patiently

Linnet stopped. "Peter, you stay here. I'm going to go tell Hwen," she said

Maud handed the sobbing child a hanky and patted her back

Alena sobbed. "Does that even matter? You've already issued me a death sentence. You're just trying to help me because if I died, you would feel guilty. I guess you wouldn't though, after all, I'm just a servant."

Peter smiled happily.

Edwin grabbed Alena and pulled her into an embrace. "I intend to help you because that's what good people do for the people they love," he whispered in her ear. "Alena, I–" someone knocked loudly in Edwin's door.

Linnet, grinning, headed for the castle. She turned her head to smile at Peter

Alena wiped her face, and rushed over as if she was stocking the fire.

Edwin opened the door. There stood Mariah. "Well hello, son. And who might you if been telling, what I assume, I love you, to?" She asked smartly.
"Me? Oh I was just preparing a speech sort of thing for, um, Gwen," he lied.
Mariah nodded. "I'm glad to see you've finally had some sense knocked into that thick skull of yours," she replied.
Edwin nodded.
Mariah turned and left.
Edwin slammed the door shut.

Alena let out a slow breath. "I thought she was going to kill me now."

A bajillion things ran through Gavin's mind. He waited nervously for the princess's response.
