*The Verge of War* A Medieval Rp

Peter sighed. "You're right. That's probably best."

"Peter?" Audric questioned. "Wasn't the point to make alliances?"
Linnet nodded. "And you'd better return before you're missed or you get struck by lightning," she joked.
~~~
"True, of course. But Jane was sent here in order to find a husband for her, and it's about time we got Peter out from under our feet," Mariah stated. "Yes, I think this a grand plan. And they should both be very pleased."
~~~
Richard stared a minute at the small portrait on the mantle before getting up and setting it face down. That was the last thing he needed to see right now.
~~
(is he unknowingly walking towards Lariah?)

Lariah narrowed her eyes to see a man getting nearer, seeming to not notice her presence. Now why would such a person be in a place like this? She thought.
Edmund asked around for Peter, but because no one seemed to know where he was, he decided to go back outside. Maybe Peter was in the garden. Ducking under a gazebo (or whatever they were called back then), he scanned the rainy garden for the duke.

"Not the lightning!" Peter replied, dramatically clutching his heart.

"Very well then, My Dear." Audric said tiredly. "You may begin planning immediately, if you desire."

"Oh Peter, do stop it!" Linnet laughed. "I would hate myself if you jinxed yourself."

Mariah smiled sweetly at her husband as she practically glided out of the room. She instantly began planning on how to present it to the two. Of course they should first have some time together to get to know one another better, which was generous at the least, she thought.

Emilee returned to the cottage after she had seen to it that Daisy ate all her hay and corn. Anna sat in the rocking chair, her knitting in her hands.
~~~
Fawn, staying in the shadows as usual, headed to her room.
"Jinxed myself? You're the one who said it!" Peter laughed.
Audric slumped down in his chair. Why did that women always have to occupy her time with match making?
"That's why I'd hate myself," Linnet explained. Her cloak was becoming saturated with water as the rain turned gradually from a shower to a downpour. "I ought to go now," she said quietly.
~~~
Mariah signaled a servant. "Fetch Sir Peter and Lady Jane, and bring them to my sitting room," she instructed.
~~

Peter smiled and hugged Linnet. "I'll be back soon."
Linnet kissed him gently. "You better," she chuckled. "Perhaps Queen Mariah will have Gwen over for a feast soon, and of course I'll have to come with her. Chaperone business, ya know." She smiled sadly
~~~
The servant was about to go, but stopped. "There be a man in the garden who is lookin' for Sir Peter as well. Shall I send him up as well?"
Mariah wracked her brain of who would be visiting uninvited. "Uh, sure, send him up," she agreed.
Peter took a step back. "I'll see you later then."
Linnet did likewise. "Stay safe," she said, turning to leave. Her heart so wanted to stay, but she knew she needed to get back before Gwen or someone else missed her.
