*The Verge of War* A Medieval Rp

Herja slept like a rock. The bite on her shoulder was becoming swollen and bruised, but enough time had not passed for it to become infected yet, since it is still the same night of the dance, which has not yet ended.

Alfric walked back over to the ladder and leant against it. "Lets get out of here."
"Will, you go up first, okay?" Edmund told the boy. He wanted to keep Alfric in his sight a little longer before losing him to the crowd. Will nodded, then scrambled up the ladder. At the top he waited for Alfric.

Alfric grabbed the nearest bar and lifted himself up, peering up at Will and wondering how he was going to get back up to him. He screwed up his face as he moved his right arm onto the next bar, pulling himself up further. Stretching his left hand up as far as he could he called out to will. "Grab my arm, quick!"

Will quickly obeyed, grasping Alfric's hand and pulling him as he assumed he was supposed to do. Edmund watched Alfric closely. He didn't recognize him, nor his name, but maybe he was an acquaintance of Fawn's.

Alfric struggled to his feet, using Will to steady himself. He peered down the hatch at Edmund and Fawn, their faces partially hidden in darkness.

Edmund helped Fawn up the first few rungs until he could no longer reach her, then Will did the same as he had done with Alfric to get her up the remainder of the ladder. "Thank you," Fawn smiled at the boy, then turned to Alfric. "And thank you. I thought you may if deserted me, but I'm very grateful you didn't," she said graciously.
"So tell me, how did you two find yourselves below my castle?" Edmund asked once his head was level with the floor they were on.

Alfric smiled a small, closed-lipped smile at Fawn, and then turned to Edmund. His castle? He turned back to fawn, waiting for her to answer.

Fawn was hoping Alfric would start the conversation but he seemed to think otherwise. "James got lost, I went in search of him, and we both ended up in the the tunnels," she explained at bluntly as possible. They could go into detail later, but right now her arm was killing her and Alfric was probably in a lot of pain as well. "Edmund, may I have something to drink?" She asked eagerly.
"Of course, how inconsiderate of me. Will?" Edmund looked to the poor kid expectantly. "Let's go out here and we can all sit down together," he said, opening the storage room door for them. Will hurried off to get drinks.
