*The Verge of War* A Medieval Rp

Herja looked around, hearing the horses stomping made her think someone might be in the stables or at least at the door. She couldn't see much in the darkened stables.

Katrina looked around, nervous. "I brought ye a little something to et," she said said in the same loud whisper. She opened the stall door.

Squinting at the sudden brightness of the lamp, Herja reflexively put her arm up to shield herself, causing her to grimace as the horse bite folded against her skin. "Thank you," she grumbled, not meaning to sound snarky.

Katrina held out the rolls to Herja. "'Tis all I could get," she said apologetically. "Has anyone come out?" She asked.

Her eyes adjusting, Herja looked up to Katrina. " No, nobody else has come but flies and the barn owl in the loft," she stated as she reached carefully for the rolls, not wanting them to drop on the ground. "It seems awfully quiet here for such a large, obviously wealthy estate." Herja noted the gilded tack hanging along the walls in the tack room across the way, glinting with a smug ornate beauty.

"They be at a ball," Katrina stated, seeing no harm in saying so. "Where d'ye say ye come from?" She asked as she looked cockeyed at the strange woman.

Her mouth half full of roll, Herja sputtered a little as she spoke," fthrom acroth the sthea," she mumbled through the roll, a bit of it coming out. Not wanting to waste any, she proceeded to finish off the roll, then, clearing her throat, started again. " I hail from across the sea. My longboat got caught in a storm at sea and was blown off course and smashed against the reefs. I managed to cling to some wreckage and landed on a beachhead some ways from here. I caught a ride on that ornery mare in the next stall over, and she and I had it out, but she brought me here anyways. I assume she belongs to the master of this estate." Herja started eating the next roll.

Katrina nodded and listened intently as Herja spoke. "Ye must be exhausted, then. I'll be going to let you rest, unless you need anythin else?" She said sweetly.

Katrina nodded and listened intently as Herja spoke. "Ye must be exhausted, then. I'll be going to let you rest, unless you need anythin else?" She said sweetly.
Herja looked uncomfortable at the question. She didn't like being indebted to another person, but in for a penny, in for a pound, as they say... " actually, do ye then you could look at this wound on my shoulder? I can't quite see it particular well, and that horse bit me pretty good. It's stopped bleeding but it is starting to swell a good deal... I am pretty sure that it will need stitches, but I don't think I can reach towards the back. See the hanging bit? That will need to be sewed back on or I'll have quite a gouge there, and I would like to avoid infection if I could, ma'am." Herja turned so Katrina could see the angry looking bite on the back side of her shoulder, cutting into it like a blunted legtrap.

Katrina neither drew back or looked disturbed. She removed the lantern from the wall hook and held it up to see Herja's shoulder better. "Nasty bite, the brute did t'ya," she murmured as she observed the wound. "If ye trust me, I can clean it. And I've got some salves that would help," she offered as she turned her eyes to the woman.
