The vet accidently DECLAWED my CAT! >_<

The next time I'm "out" for any reason, I think I'll use a marker to label myself with the correct procedure. Animals too.

I know right.... like a big "NO VESECTOMY" across my forehead....

I'm kidding. I think. My ex's father had a leg amputated due to complications from diabetes. We did write, "Not this one!" on the other leg. That doc probably hated us, but you never know.

Good for you!

Some hospitals do this, too....

xadika, I just want to say that i think you have a great attitude about this situation. I would have been shocked and felt bad for the cat like you feel. But alot of people lose sight of the fact that people make mistakes and things could be worse. I personally think they should not charge you for anything and thrown in the luxating patella surgery for free

But i am glad you are so level headed about the situation.

We had a cat declawed once because our daughter would be covered with scratches from playing with the cat. When a vet actually explained what you are doing ( removing the end of it's fingers) I felt bad. They seem to get a lot of pleasure from stretching their claws. We live in the country and all of our cats have been chased by predators at one time or another. If they didn't have claws they wouldn't be able to climb the 4x4's supporting our deck to get away.

Not trying to criticize anyone that has declawed their cat. I can really understand it. They do like to shred the upholstery. I just wouldn't do it to an outside cat.

I think I would be looking for another vet. I understand that it wasn't that surgeons fault,,,,but the support staff leaves alot to be desired!!!

Good luck
Tink
