The waiting is killing me- a missing chicken.

Livestock or pets we have to take care of them. I worry about my cows and horses. When a calf goes missing I look for it. When a horse goes missing I look for it. When chicken goes missing I look for it. When one gets sick they either come in the house or the barn. I've been known to have a calf sitting in front of the fire place. A sick chicken in the bathroom. Had an orphan foal in the garage.

When I bring it on the farm I take care of it. Drama and all!

well just so you know....i have had girls disappear for two days and then squawk at the fence to get back in with nary a feather missing. but when my bird returned this last time it was five days later and she had holes torn into her and she wouldn't move at all. she drank water after a couple of days but would not eat for weeks. she lost so much weight and caring for her has been HARD!!! If friz does come home it may not be a happy homecoming right off. So prepare for the worst and be glad if you get better.

So sorry, your Friz is missing, i hope she comes back today, check under hings, they tend to hide.

I sure hope Friz is there when you get home!! I am so glad to know there are others of you out there that are as crazy about your chickens as I am!!!! I have 28 chickens and they are all pets and they are so sweet and love to cuddle!!I have had my 2 years and never lost one till last Sunday. I had to come home and find her brutally attacked by a hawk. It has been a week and I am still crying over Lilly's death!!Just wanted to let you know you are not alone! For some reason it is so easy to get attached to these chickens!!!

Really- thank you all! I should be home before dark tonight and will continue to look. I appreciate the HOPE that we might actually still find her! I'll even take her back injured. My vet and I are on a first name basis anyhow.

I think that we are in the market for a pair of silkie pullets. We are in north central MA. Not exactly the right time of year for that!
