I ordered from Ideal in January and I thought they were coming Feb 14, but they didn't so I have been waiting and waiting, all to open an email today that says the shipping date was changed from 3/26 to 3/31. The 26th? I was expecting them on March 13th. So I called them and they are having trouble hatching. I asked if I could get another breed and they told me they are sold out of everything?

At least they have nice people that work there.

So the waiting continues..... I have been cleaning, organizing & rearranging like crazy, I feel like I am pregnant again!

Oh man, what did you order??? I have chicks coming from there on the 26th, RIRs and RIWs. Wonder if I'm going to be moved back as well. At least I have eggs in the bator that should hatch around the 26th. Sorry for your extended waiting!! :aww

Let me take a minute ans introduce myself.. get all cozified in here, seems like we all have a long wait.

My name is Fran, I live in Central Illinois, Champaign area. And I am Very new to farm life! We've been out here about 6 years, but I have been conceintrating on gardens, but I'm not working now so I have to earn my keep!

So a few chickens and veggies, should get us through next winter and well see what happens from there.

I ordered my Chicks from MPC, they aren't due in until the 31st, which I am really counting on.. but I am also thinking the way everyones order keeps getting pushed back.. well I will expect the worse, hope for the best.

I went with an assortment.. looking at hardiness, egg laying ability and friendliness.. gotta have that little love peck before dinner you know.

Hello Jolly Rancher. I feel it my duty to inform you that immediately upon the arrival of those babies the addiction will start. Your life will never be the same and you will not be able to stop wanting more chickens. And watch out for those silkies - they are the worst of all.
And you will find no one here to help you kick the addiction. They will just continue to intice you.
Welcome aboard and hope your order arrives safe and as scheduled.

BECAUSE OF SOME MENTIONING THAT THEY ORDERED FOR CACKLE HATCHERY IN MISSOURI, I CANCELLED MY ORDER WITH IDEAL AND ORDERED WITH CACKLE. IT IS ONLY A FEW HOURS FROM ME SO NOW I CAN GO PICK THEM UP. I HAVE BEEN SO WORRIED ABOUT HAVING THEM SHIPPED WITH SOME OF THE BAD EXPERIENCES I HAVE READ ABOUT. SO NOW I AMEXPECTING APRIL 2. THANKS TO THE PERSON WHO ALSO ORDERED FROM CACKLE.

The first order was for my boss and 100 +3 White Leghorns arrived safe and sound 2 weeks ago and we haven't lost a single one.
My smaller order of mixed birds got here just fine on Friday and so far everybody is happy and healthy!

I can finally join this thread - I ordered 15 chickies from the local feed and grain, they'll be here May 7. I can't wait! I ordered three each of Barred Rocks, RI Reds, Araucunas, Silver Laced Wyandottes and light Brahmas. I'd really like to get some Cuckoo Marans and Delawares someday, too. I can't wait for fresh cackle fruit!

I'll be getting 6 little chicks this spring... 3 silver wyandottes and 3 buff orphingtons. I'm very excited so I'd like to join this thread too! There is still so much snow here we can't start working on the coop but I can dream!

Anyone know a good source for organic chick and chicken feed? I'd really like to stay away from GMO stuff if at all possible.

Thanks
