The Wally-Gee Bee Journey 🐝

Pics
Built my first swarm trap today. I can’t wait to find the perfect place to put it! It needs a coat of paint, but it’s all done otherwise.

Here’s one of my girls getting a slurp of clover!

I’m taking the swarm trap to my sister’s house and leaving it after the beekeepers from Alabama cut the hive out of the old house tomorrow. With a prayer and blessing, maybe I will catch any new swarm that finds the old house a temping place to stay.

I’m not gonna get there as early as the bee folks, but I’ll get as many pics as I can. My suspicion is that this is going to be a massive hive in the old house. I hope to assist as much as possible. They said I could get in their extra suit😂. I already got one, so it’s all good. Bees and honey early, and Boston butt for lunch!

Not a lot of pics, but here’s what I got. Huge colony!

We didn’t find the queen. We believe she ran into the cracks at the top. The bee wranglers had to get going with the 3 boxes of bees before they overheated. I left a swarm trap with plenty of bait and the bee wranglers are going back tomorrow to see if they can hopefully find the queen after they settle into a big bee ball.

A little chunk of the beeswax I rendered from the cut out at my sister’s house. I only did a small amount just to see how it would turn out. The bees are cleaning up a much larger portion right now and I’ll put it all back together and filter it to a much cleaner state.

I have some beeswax I want to render from the extra frames that came with the hive I bought. I got a pot at Goodwill that is going to be my "wax pot." A project for a less busy day, if I ever get one!
You may already know how to do it, but there’s a ton of YT videos on the subject.
