I have never heard of that. I only give mine scrambled eggs. But when a broody raises chicks they eat everything that she does. I think it has given them a good boost. I feel like these babies got off to a rough start with being in the mail so long. I think they are FINALLY coming out of it. A few more days and I will fell a little more relaxed.

Makes sense and I just read it helps with pasty but which I seem to be having a lot of here. One baby seemed kind of off and I cleaned her butt and made her drink, she finally stopped squealing ate and laid down for a nap. Anyone else with pasty butt??:/

Yes, I had pasty butt on quite a few yesterday. I'm pretty sure it was because of the sugar water. When I ordered my first batch of chicks last year, I didn't give them sugar water and not one chick ended up with pasty butt. This time I gave them all sugar water and had pasty butt everywhere. No more sugar water for new babies unless they're lethargic.

I been giving them chick quilk maybe that is why. I just put sugar back in the water because one pasty butt was looking off ..cleaned her but made her drink and viola 45 min later better. So just plain water then?

I had some poopy butts too. I think its the stress. Compared to the calm and comfort of a normal hatch under a warm broody. Only 2 that have a bit of it left. One is a Buff Plymouth Rock that has been weak/small from the start. Overall they are all doing great though considering how long they were in the mail. Lots of pretty flight feathers and everyone either has or just about has doubled their weight. Except the Cornish X who are HUGE already!!! And they are all 6 doing awesome! The CX are getting broiler booster in their water so that their legs stay nice and strong.

I have a Delaware that just started tucking her head and walking backward and flipping. I'm forcing electrolytes and sugar. She is eating what the heck is this? I'm gonna try yogurt when she wakes up.
