Hawk ..she's an ee reminds me of a hawk

My Mottled Houdans remind me of eagles! Well not their coloring, but their eyes and beaks.

My Mottled Houdan roo started crowing this morning!! Well, he's trying!

Which hatchery did you get them from? I hope not the hatchery as my pair came from. They were real nutters!!! And not in a good way, LOL!

We rehomed him because of his nutty behavior and then she had a tragic accident. Poor dear. But after they were gone the flock was instantly calmed and I realized that they were the source of the chaos. I hadn't been able to figure out who was causing it before that.

We got ours from McMurray. I've never had Houdans before, so I hope they are not crazy, lol!!
I hope not too! Lol! I bought mine from a local feed store. They use Privett Hatchery.

I was having serious problems with egg eating and the Houdan hen would get up in the nesting area and just walk back and forth, and back and forth and back and forth. I just thought she was a bit neurotic. Other than that she was gentle and funny. Especially when they were out foraging in the yard. She had the funniest goofy run, bobbing her head back and forth, up and down and flapping. I guess she was just making the other hens a little batty too

Here are pics of them. The young girl that took the rooster when his crowing got out of hand (for where we live) took him to the fair. We saw him when we went. It was nice to see him! But he was really aggressive by then. So he wasn't really happy to see us at that point

I saw her a couple months later and she said that indeed they have trouble with him jumping on them.

"Tweety Dot" because of her constant babbling......

"Asterik"

I hope yours turn out better and if they do then that would be a very nice comparison between hatcheries and compliments to McMurray

And the roo was actually always gentle while he was here. I had no problem with him except for his excessive crowing. Which if I lived on a larger property farther from neighbors that would not have been an issue. And I have never been to the girls place..........so I don't know if there are circumstances there that might have made a difference in his behavior.

Lemon, I'll keep you posted!

wendy, I thought something was wrong with one of them when I first went out this morning and heard it. It was so funny!! I ordered three roos and looks like I ended up with sic, so it's going to get a little noisy around here!
