Wellies are good for sure.
I have a few Welsummer X Marans that should start laying soon. I think the Welsummer blood made the chicks healthier. I didn't have any chicks with bad feet at least with the cross. Now to wait and see about egg color.

Which breed was giving you the bad feet?

I had a friend that had Welsummer/Black Marans crosses pullets and they laid dark eggs. Some have the reddish tint and the others have the chocolate tint. Those were lovely girls!
