The Welsummer Thread!!!!

Here is my 23.5 week what was supposed to be a Welsummer, but apparently more of a cross breed. We are still hoping for some Welsummer to be in that lineage and give us a darker egg...

Of course. She is my only hold out for eggs. All 5 of my other hens have been laying for a few weeks.

She is FINALLY squatting, has good pin bone spacing of 2.5-3 fingers, a moist vent and clearly red comb and wattles. Where are my eggs Freeloader?

Agreed, we have heard RIR or production red, but not pure those either, so we're still hopeful that the eggs might be interesting, the wait is killing us

Is she a free ranger?
If so, that's where your eggs are...cause vent and pin bones shows she is laying.

Her neck looks like it might have some of the gold that mine have, can you get a better side image of her? Also, what is her temperament? That can tell you alot about the breed.

My Welsummers did not start laying until about 27 weeks, and I am still waiting on one to start at 35.
