WOW! Beautiful eggs pinkchick!!! My marans' eggs are not that dark (except when they first started laying, well maybe not quite that dark even then). JamesA your babies are sooooooooooo adorable!!! Your wellie eggs have a really nice warm color too.

Very adorable babies James! If the eyeliner method of sexing is true you have at least a couple pullets. Now I wish I had gotten pics of our eggs. Maybe my Wellies are not so bad after all. Spring will tell.

17 eggs are in lockdown set for hatch tomorrow and I hear peeping!

for lots of girls.......one Wellie egg a day is not cutting it and to think I have 6 more months before I get any more!

Video Surveillance system is up and running with two cameras pointed at the coops. I have not seen the neighbors dogs running around but other neighbors have. I did speak with all the homeowners except the pitbulls owners, everyone has agreed to document when they see the dogs running loose and where they see them. I also learned quite a bit more about these dogs while visiting my neighbors. They (the dogs) have been accused of circling cars as people are pulling out of their driveways, one gal actually rolled her window up because she thought the dog was going to jump in this summer. Another neighbor made a complaint that he was outside in his yard doing some chores and when we turned around he noticed 1 of the pits, he said that when he tried to back away the dog just crept along with him, when he tried to turn away to grab a lead piece of pipe to protect himself with the dog lounged and snarled. He said that everytime he turned his back to get away the dog got worse. His wife came to the front door and fired off a shot and the dog ran off. I also found out that one of these dogs had a litter of pups about 2 months ago and they haven't been able to get rid of the pups. Oh goody. So much for responsible pet owners. I'm not knocking the dogs because I don't believe it's their fault and what a shame if one loses it life because it's owner's irresponsibility.

Thanks Sunny! It's like going to the candy store everyday when I go to the coops to collect eggs....I just love all the colors! My DH says I have a serious addiction.......LOL........uuummm, ya think????

I dont have any yet but I really want some welsummers! I love the pictures and the eggs are just so nice! Since I live in Fort Worth I can only have 12 so now I would like to get 6-7 to add to my current flock of 5. I am thinking about ordering a dozen hatching eggs and selling the ones I cant keep when they get a little bigger.

I was glad to find this thread. I am new around here and have read alot but just starting posting!

Fortworth, I agree with pink chick, I love my wellies. They are so calm and friendly compared to the other chickens I have. My rooster discovered that I was in the house in this pic.
