I am completely in shock. A dog got into my yard today and killed all my Wellies except for 1 hen. I just cannot believe it. I think what bothers me the most is the loss of my roo. He was a "hatch what is in the fridge chick" when I found out his father went missing while I was on vacation. I am just heartsick.

ALL my chickens were taken during the summer of '08........the coyotes & neighbor's dogs moved in at the same time my Mom died. I'm sure it was coincidental, but MAN, I sure felted like I was being 'picked on'!!!

It took 1 1/2 years before I got some more chickens, and they are doing fine. Course I did get a great pyrenees to help me take care of my flock.
Hang in there Taz, many of us have been through this kind of heartbreaking experience. We are with you.

#18 has gone broody!!!!!!!!

My first ever broody Welsummer!

I thought a couple weeks ago that she seems pretty fluffed up....remember that photo I posted when I went in to get that egg from hissy missy? Yep.....officially broody. She is sitting on 6 eggs, one of which is her own and the others are Marans eggs. We will see if she takes this job seriously and if she stays dedicated. Cross your fingers!
