LOL, you'd have better luck getting pullets ordering a straight run cockerel bunch. I was 40% pullets on my BR's, 20% on my JG's, 40% on my SLW's. I am however 100% on my sex links...... The Welsummers were all picked by the breeder.

Yee gads - boys are so prolific! OK, I'm gonna have to bite the bullet in July and just order straight run.... nothing like trying to find chicks in the hottest time of the year... maybe I should try again next year....

ChickieLyn...........I only have 1 hen laying at the moment, but if you were willing to take all of the chicks, I might be able to hatch for you - we can work out a per chick cost, but again, you'd have to take them all. I can't be brooding during the summer unless under a broody, and I don't have a broody right now. You'd have to come get them though. I already have a bunch of barnevelder boys growing out, so I can't keep any more boys right now. (11 roosters is plenty!) My last hatch (New Years Day) I had 4 wellie eggs - ended up with 3 pullets and 1 cockeral. Not saying that will repeat by any means (ya never know).

What would you like me to do with the pictures? Under the standard or pick him apart?

I am not impressed with his comb, too big but he is lovely in his color!

You can pick them apart and use them for the website to show good, bad and the ugly.

So far, she seems to be a good mama!! She's taught them to eat, drink, search for food etc. At one point a little chick got a little peck-ish

and took a bite of her eyelid and wouldn't let go!! It was hilarious

and upsetting:hit a the same time!!! If she was a bad mama she wouldn't have put up with that i don't think!!! I will post pics later!!

Great news - so glad to hear this! Too funny about that chick! It's so fun to see the photos of the chicks with the hens - we seem to get to see that so rarely (except for over on the Wyandotte thread - seems like everyone is having issues with broody hens, having to buy eggs to eat, and everyone over there is hilarious! 4 hens fighting over one egg to sit on....) Good goin'!

Here are some pics of the chicks and her!! (sorry everyone, no there not welsummer chicks, someone i know offered me eggs and i couldn't say no, because there chickens are so sweet!) I don't know the breed mix?? i think the brown part of some of them is warren.
