This time tomorrow I will be heading for southwest Missouri and taking a 12 week old cockerel with me for Havinfun. While I have taken birds with me before I still worry about traveling them. Are they too cold, or too hot, or getting enough fluids, or being stressed too much. I hate to think how much I'd worry about a bird being shipped commercially where they are in the back of a big truck and no one checking on them.

I'm not heading south for a show, I'm going to visit two of my sons who live in Missouri. Havingfun had contacted me about getting a rooster from my flock to reinforce the bloodlines of his flock. I didn't want to ship a bird due to the problems that can occur with shipping birds other than newly hatched chicks plus the cost factor is outrageous. Since I was going to visit my sons I offered to bring one with me if he wanted to drive from Oklahoma to get it. So he is coming to my son's house of Sunday and I sure am looking forward to meeting him.
