The Welsummer Thread!!!!

Advertise him on here in the auction section and you may find a taker......I get lots of calls for full grown Welsummer roosters and of course I never have any.

Folks tell me that it is hard to come by a full grown rooster that is flock ready.

You don't have to ship to find him a new home. Just say pick up only in your advertisement. Try CL too and don't give up he will find a home, it may take more than a couple weeks.

But I am geographically unsuitable for pickup. I will try.
Maybe I can find a home, and bring to NE Congress show!
Great idea! Thanks! Just put him in the auction page.

I think they came from you hehehe, but they look different lighter and with more gold feathers on there neck? are they your breeder girls because I would love a few wellies like those lighter ones. Though I'm seriously not picky they are all beautiful and those speckled eggs are awsum. I have 1 Bl. sexlink that sometimes lays me a speckled egg, took me forever to find out just who was laying it..... but it;s my favorite egg I hate to eat them LOL there too pretty. Nexxt year I think if I get some more I will blow them and make ornaments out of those.
This is my BSL that lays the speckled egg maybe she is a cross with a wellie or something, my other 2 lay a darker egg but sadly no speckles.

I am not sure which photos of my girls you are referring to, but chances are what ever photo you saw, you saw birds that I use for breeding. I currently only have 3 molting hens and ever so patiently waiting for some eggs in hopes of a new rooster as my boy recently passed.
The egg ornaments are beautiful!

OH I'm so sorry to hear you lost your Roo,
I have an over abundance of them started out with 34 of my 43 chicks , but I'm finally down to 4 and at least 1 more has to go maybe 2, will see if my S.S. doesn't start being a little nicer he is gonna be soup.... grrrr
Do any of the hatcheries have decent pullets in this breed? I don't want to show them so they don't have to be the perfect specimen, cuz I'm not sure what might be available around here, I plan to go to the swap come March, but can't guarantee there will be any wellies there. TY Kim

And soon it begins.

Making the list and checking it twice, gotta find out whose birds are nice. Spring is right around the corner and I have a feeling it is gonna be filled with hatching lots of Wellies!!!

My Wellies are going in the breeding pen tonight. I have 3 pullets laying. A friend of mine (FlashPointFarm) came and checked them out and said I should show my pullets. Their legs are nice color. She showed some from this line at the Eastern Iowa Poultry Show this year. I have a younger pullet that has even darker legs. The cockerel has lighter legs but otherwise looks nice. I will post pictures when I get around to posting pictures.
