The Welsummer Thread!!!!

Old and wise forum.:bow I need help with something. I have 5 Wellies the same age about 5-6 weeks and i can tell a definite difference in one of their comb and waddles as well as more of a protruding spur than almost any other of me hens. would this tell you that i may have a roo. I hope so because I'm looking for one. looking at these pics of your wellie roo's it makes me want to find one even more now. I have five wellies that are about 8-9 weeks old and none of them have any comb or waddles like this one. Please tell me what you think. I know the pics are not he best. The posible roo. And now the known hen the dark haired hen is my wife Barbara
That does look like a cockerel. You can tell early on with the eyeliner and V on their heads. When they start to feather out you can tell as we'll. the pullets have salmon chest feathers and the cockerels have a darker brown/black shade chest feathers.

OMG that is so awesome that is why I bought a Welsummer to add to my flock she is only 2weeks old but so docile. I wanted cool looking eggs and a good brooder. I bought two Silkies as well but I thought a Welsummer would be a nice mix to my mix Flock, and boy is it mixed!
Thanks Miquwid. There is no doubt the Welsummer is a GREAT breed!!!

I got a box of chicks today 10 Welsummers and 15 golden comets

I really LOVE Golden Comets. I buy 25 layers from MT Healthy every year. I have even crossed my Wellies with my Comets to see what the cross produced. The beauty and uniformity of the Golden Comet egg is incredible. They are also a lovely bird with great temperament. Two GREAT BREEDS!!!!!!
