I would add that the chick with the "eyeliner" lacks the prominent "V" on the top of the head. I usually look for both for a female.
As long a I am writing, the pullet chicks above also have the salmon colored breast feathers coming in. Usually by this stage (4 weeks) you will see black breast feathers on cockerels and salmon colored ones on pullets.
Cute chicks, though. Very nice.
Very cute!
I'm sorry, but at 6 weeks, I don't know that it will be able to be fixed. Does the chick have pain when you uncurl it's toes? You can try, but it's best if issues like this are fixed at hatch.Sorry that I am not quoting but my welsummer/rir is also broody. She hasnt snapped out of it yet though. It been two months. She is also going through an early moult so she is giving us no eggs. My welsummer/Sussex 6 week old chick has got curls toes and walks on the end of her leg. (bad explanation) she doesn't use her toes to keep her upright And she can't get up the ramp to her house. Is it too late to sort out my beautiful chick?
I looked them up and I am still confused, Bellecross sells Gold Duckwing Welsummers and Partridge Welsummers - but I did not see any Silver Welsummers. I have never heard of Gold Duckwing Welsummers - only the standard Partridge color which is all I have ever seen.
The Silver Hen looks like my Silver Phoenix Hen - even to the tail feathers which are long and held low like a Phoenix does.
Does anybody else have more information about these birds?
ThanksVery cute!
