With one rooster to service 6 hens I expected to find a few unfertile eggs among those I candled. I was a little surprised to find that 16 out of 39 were clear. Technically day 21 was 8pm yesterday and the first chick made its appearance about 4pm. Now at 4am six chicks have emerged so hopefully more will continue to hatch as the day progresses.

Her legs are yellow.
So she is probably not a SS. Could also be a Wyandotte. My Blue Laced Red Wyandotte looks like that, too. (So do a lot of other chicks) What kind of comb does it have? A Wyandotte should have a rose comb, but some hatchery chicks have been sending out single comb ones. That's too bad when they do that. Anyway, google Wyandottes.
