The Welsummer Thread!!!!

1.hens have lighter gold hackles with black vertical lines (penciling)
2. hens have partridge feathering on the rest of their body - no solid color feathers
3. roosters are darker overall and have solid color feathering
4. saddle feathers are present on a rooster (just above the base of the tail on the back the feathers form a "saddle" dropping downward over the sides)
5. solid black tail feathers - hens only have black at the tips of their tails
Also the red comb and waddles and patchy wing pattern.

Ok so this is my Welsummer when it was a chick:

I originally thought I was a girl but then it started showing a little comb so I though it was a boy, it is now practically feathered out and its breast feathers are the colour of this hens, doing it mean girl?:

Oh great, just went up and now it is out of the sun it doesn't look as light. But what better way to descrive the colour than to show you pictures of it!:

Thanks everyone :). I am sure her brother (not the same breed) is a boy so I don't really want two cockerels. I will keep it even if it turns out to be a boy as I rehomed my other boy on Saturday.
