Hi ....... I just started reading this thread because I have a two week old Welsummer chick that I hope is a pullet. But it sounds like you need to make the distinction at a day old or wait till they are 5 weeks old? I have attached a few pictures of Ginger ... she is 2 weeks ... can any of you take a stab at determining if she is a pullet?



 
I Just found out my hen is a welsummer it was just a random chocolate egg my neighbor gave me and said hatch it to see what it was. Well today it's 10 weeks and she finally told me the breed of her. I'm actually super happy I always wanted chocolate eggs! I just wanted them a bit more literally but this'll do.

Ginger is a cute chick, but at two weeks and a big comb... I think it might be Gilligan. (google gilligans island if you don't know what I mean)
