i used it when one of my wyandotte babys had a prolapsed vent .much worse then roides. and very scarry the first time i saw it.. the same for the witch hazel ..it worked great ..i was able to push it back in and after a week or so it stayed in ..you will become the birds doc in a sense ..you have to ,they will depend on you like a child , for everything..it seems like a lot but its all worth it..some on here perform surgerys on their birds ..bumble foot surgery i've seen others do ..beleave me , if someone told me i'd be tending to chickens butts with ointments 2 yrs ago i would say they were crazy..
you just find yourself doing what ever is needed ...my chickens are part of my family ..i wouldnt let my kids suffer so i cant let the feathered kids suffer either.. lol
oinments like antibacteria or neo sporan [i no nice spelling . lol ] are a must for your first aide kit as well..i no the first time i read about prep h and using it , i thought was crazy ..but like humans they suffer alot of simmular issues or ones that are treated with the same stuff we use ..

wnyegger, I just have to ask what would preparation H be for. If you tell me chickens get hemorrhoids I will really crack up!
