funny how they do that ..lol..try reaching under her and see whats shes sitting on .if she takes a big bite out of your hand she is def broody ..lol i have a few broodys i just take the clutch of eggs and they end up getting up ..i have 9 nesting boxes for my 21 girls and they still squak at each other when ones been on the nest to long ..all of them still only use about 4 of the nesting boxes ..they all perfer one tho over the others ..i have a bunch who think its ok to sleep in the nest boxes , so i have to move them to a roost every night ..i have it down to about 4 hens doing this now , but it was as many as 10 ..i just keep moving them each night ..sooner or later ,youd think they would get it ..One of my 7 month old Welsummer's has gone broody!! I was definitely not expecting that from her... I've got loads of hens going broody at the moment (it is spring after all) but I wasn't expecting the Welsummer's to!
She's crazy protective of her nest. Every time I go near her she screams her head off![]()
haha ,yeah they can bite pretty hard for a bird..and they always seem to get ya in a soft spot..i try to distrack them from the front and reach in behind them ..i let them stay right there till i get them all ..i learned my lesson about trying to pick them up ..they sure can make some noise when you pick them up ..Oh I have the same problem!! I had 6 hens sleeping in the nests at night, now i've only got 3... but that is still 3 hens pooping in the nests every night... sigh![]()
She's definitely broody. I took her off the nest to collect the eggs. She was sitting on 8 eggs and she put up a good fight when I tried to take her off them. She screamed, hissed and bit me!!

Yeah we're about 2 weeks into summer now. I live in the south part of Australia (Victoria) so its not toooo hot in summer here... although almost every year we get life threatening bush fires...
At the moment the weather is on average between 25-30 degrees Celsius (77 to 86 fahrenheit)... But in the peak of summer in january most days will be from 30 to 40 degrees Celsius (86 to 104 fahrenheit).
I've never had snow at my home... well it did technically snow once but it was hardly any and it wasn't particularly pleasant. There are quite a few mountains a couple of hours from me that have snow in winter... but even their snow probably wouldn't be as nice as yours... Aussie snow tends to be gross and icy rather than soft.
To be honest I don't really like snow... can't really imagine having to live in it, way too cold for me!!! Dreaming of a white christmas?? Nah mate, give me a nice hot day so I can go swimming and have a barbecue outside!![]()
