The Welsummer Thread!!!!

Could you post pictures of your Welsummer mixes?
I have a Welsummer rooster and lots of different breed hens (GLW, PBR, Specked Sussex, light and buff Brahma, RIR). We got the Welsummer roo because it is the smallest breed - even thoughI really wanted a buff brahma roo...
I am wondering if we ever hatch our own what they would look like! Thanks!!

Here are two of my Welsummer/Buff Orpington cross roosters. Primo and Trey are about 10weeks at the time this pic was taken. At 12+ weeks they are matured and driving the Girls nutz with their 'adoration'.

here is my little 6 week old wellie staring down the 6 week old pita pinta

Here it is with a hamp and the pita with the older Pita and Delaware in the background

If its a boy I will probably keep it I have a place he can go Thats the delaware mama right next to it.

Lastest pic of pauley who was polly until i figured out she was a he. And what a beautiful boy he is at 11 almost 12 weeks.

I would also be interested to know what a Wellsummer roo x White Leghorn hen turns like...

We just put one such egg under a broody hen today

Thanks

I noticed something interesting today on a pair of 3 week old Welsummer/Speckled Sussex chicks that one of my Buff O hens hatched out for me. The little ones are developing muted speckled wings and backs and cream stripes down their chests. Today I noticed that one is developing black breast feathers and the other salmon colored. I thought it was an interesting genetic split on the coloring and pleasantly surprised that the breast feathers are allowing me to sex the chicks as if they were pure Wellies.

On another Bright note. My lone pure Welsummer chick is definitely a girl. Salmon breast feathers and still has bright eyeliner and head V.

Thats interesting, I didnt know about the salmon breast...

This one is just about 10 days old...

We see the breast better here...its kinda salmon...( I hope)

The hen is a broody Double-laced Barnevelder ...two others are olive-eggers
