The Welsummer Thread!!!!

I thought both of the cups were fruits....the water was empty and it slightly damp on the bottom....if you really want them to stay upright, try glueing the cups on the bottom of the box.

Fruits were all gone when the box was open.

You did a very smart thing, by zip ties on the box...there were a few of the corners being looked into...probably the postal service looking at the chicks to make sure they are alright.

I did not do a head count....but I've got more than enough and with the good mommas' faith, I hope most of them will survive to adulthood. I know I will bound to lose some and win some.

Yeah, the water usually lasts until they get to the airport and start getting moved around.

I always zip tie all 4 sides of the box - I feel safter that way, then no-body can hold them, etc.

There were 16 chicks total -
*11 LF(STR)
*2 Bantam Males
*3 Bantam hens

I wish the chick packages were formed differently, like a shoe box...something with a lid on top of it and still ziptie it.

Thanks, Nate, you are great!

Taking pics soon as I get off the puter.

They are starting to get that scruffy look...

Sorry I didn't get week 4 posted last night, but here they are in their new digs- out of the wsher box into a sofa box; "We're movin' on up, to the big time to a dee-lux apartment in the sky-i-ies"

Well, that is it for this week. I can't believe how big they are. Can anyone see any major flaws yet?

One of my Wellie girls now just over three months sounds like a young goose because she honks. Really that is what it soundls like to me !

I plan on adding Wellies to my flock early next year. I am trying to see who has them in my area so I know when I am ready who to go to. I think they look so pretty.

Wow, from the pictures of grandma..the ones at 5 weeks look pretty big already. Are the Welsummers known to mature early? That would be great since I have some pure ones hatching on the 29th.

Oh, and my little bantams are strong little things already! Born yesterday, keeping up with the big ones already running around, drinking eating..it's so different for me to have such little ones. They are cute.
