The Welsummer Thread!!!!

Mine were kind of slow but I like it that way. And they were around 8 months of age when they start laying. Slow growing breeds seems to outlast the fast growing, fast time in eggs which they could be burned out than the slow pokes.

If you get the hatchery Welsummers, I almost bet they will be fast growing, fast in egg laying and meet their deaths sooner.

Can not find the gadget to install the pictures. Will take more pictures today if permitted. (cant leave my dd in the house by herself or she will raid in the kitchen for goodies or get into the closet for something she does not need to get into LOL).

HEY EWE Take your DD outside and instruct her how to take pictures of you with the birds . Sounds like she is too bored. I eat when I am not busy and or entertained.

Yeah right! I dont trust her.....she dotes on them too hard, ended up killing them LOL! I would rather wait until hubby gets home tonight and she can be supervised. She gets bored very very easily and no amount of toys, tv or anything would keep her occupied.

I wanted to order some ABA bands today - but cant find a chart as to what size the Welsummer Bantams would need. Does anyone use these or have the chart to know what size they would need?

Thanks so much in adavance!

Nate

Took some quick shots this morning. Not the best picture quality, but just some candid shots.

Moose, now at 9 months.

Cleopatra, also 9 months. Moose did NOT do that to her head. That was the overeager Olive Egger rooster that is currently in with them - he's 1 step closer to the soup pot for doing this to my poor girls head.

If anyone is interested in Welsummer chicks let me know, My last hatch on Welsummers is August 11th for selling, after that I will be keeping the chicks for myself for next years breeders.

I will also have some hatching eggs available, but I would need to know right away before I turn all my chickens together for the rest of the summer/winter.

Hope everyone has had a great hatching season, its been very good and busy here, and next year is bring alot of new breeding pens and breeds.

ONE of them does sound like she HONKS.

My two Wellie pullets do this as well......I call it their 'Dutch accent'!!!

They are far and away more vocal than my Wyandottes or Astralorp
