The Welsummer Thread!!!!

Ewe~

Going through some photos this morning I found the photo of the Welsummer hatching eggs from Erhard. I know I have said this before but I must say it again....Erhard is such a delightful gentleman. My daughter has borrowed my camera for a trip to S. Carolina, I will get a photo of those girls up as soon as I can when she gets back so you can see how they have matured. Their colors are very bright and well defined.

The Wellie Eggs are on the left, he marked them very clearly which I appreciated.

1 new coop is done, the Red Barn is on the other end of the property(all fenced for the chickens), along with my brooder shed. Everybody is sharing the coops and barn now! I took these pics last night before doing chores. In the process of adding some more 8x8 coops with runs.

Nice Job Nate! They look like they have pretty easy access for cleaning, feeding, egg retrieval and such.

edited because after re-reading it I think I worded it wrong and that was not my intention...sorry.

LOL! Thanks, Yes it is very easy to clean, I actually cleaned it this morning seeing as it is raining out, and there is an over hang over the doors so it worked out well... Crappy weather here today, so off to the feed store to pick up 300# of feed so I am covered for the next few weeks...

Helps alot not having the geese in the big chicken pen, they are penned up in our HUGE raspberry patch, and eating the grass just like they are suppose to, even though they are COTTON PATCH GEESE, they still weed the raspberries! ;-)

Cool set up!!!!!!!

Yes it is going to be exciting to see what those roos will produce. I probably take a few chicks from that lot next summer if the Orp mom gets to be broody or still alive. Not sure how long they do live for but she is already three years old? It is a wait and see at this point.

I have to take a pic of my clean coop and send it on here before they sit there and mess it up for me LOL!

Geese???????????? Ok, Im gonnnnnnnnnne! Varoooooooooooom! (I'm so scared of any barnyard geese but not afraid of Canadian geese). Now if I can have some for the city limits to keep tresspassers at bay with aggressive geese, I'm all for it. I have to be armed myself, with a face mask, body amoure (sp) and a garbage can lid for each hand LOLOLOL!

I have cotton patch geese, and they are small geese, they are the size of my muscovy ducks, but my muscovies are HUGE!!! The geese only weigh 8-10 pounds each. And they are so friendly, gotta also love the white body with a pink bill and the grey body with a pink bill!

Well I would love some of them thar Mini Silver Appleyard Duckies ! But I can not since I live in a town setting and am really pushing the limits now ! ho ho ho

Hi guys,

Sorry it took me so long to get back with you. 6 kids keep me running... not to mention the 18 chickens, 1 dog, 2 geckos and the husband!

It's so hard to figure out which "chipmunk" chick you actually have! So I am guessing I have 3 speckled sussex even though the hatchery said they were different birds. I used Nature's Hatchery. Thank you all for your replies!

I have a Canon 7D and I am so enjoying taking my chicks pics but they sure don't sit long enough for a photo shoot! I must have taken 50 pictures that day just to get those LOL!

Took me a good while to get that dirty coop cleaned out, only need a good Dawn soap and a stiff broom. Had to knock out a wasp nest with high powered water spray and killed the whole thing, with a few of them escaped. Lucky me, I didn't get stung. As you can see under Stall Dry and Sevin Dust, just horse rubber mats on the floor. Homemade nesting boxes for the girls. Three of the four holes were occupied LOL!

I love my coop, its great and had it for seven years and well worth the money!

Anyone have any LF Welsummer eggs available right now? Im needing about a dozen. I would prefer the really dark speckled ones if at all possible. The more speckles the better.

PM me if you do.
