You betcha, I love them! I wanted to show how much better your stock is than the hatchery birds, but when I try to tell people why they're better I didn't have the words to explain the difference. Now I do! I don't show birds, and I was happy with the hatchery birds as starters, but really wanted better quality. I got rid of the entire flock of hatchery birds and now just have the ones I hatched from your eggs. Out of the ones I hatched I kept 2 roos and 6 hens.

Happy New Year!

Was out looking at the chickens in the coop this am-DH and the kids have been doing those chores so I haven't been out there much and the Wellies we hatch out from Nate's eggs are looking good- the boys are starting to get big...I will have to try and get pictures.

We ended up with 12 new fluffy butts in our New Year Day hatch-but no Wellie eggs were fertile.... maybe the next hatch or the next one.........

Yes they ARE beautiful, the colors are vivid as they should be and they have calm personality about them. Right now the girls and roo are a little flighty, i have not messed with them at all so maybe this spring I will spend a little time with them, bribing them with treats LOL!

The German bantam hen is the ringleader LOL, she is the first to come for treats! I am glad I got the coop cleaned out after that messy two days of warm weather with period of rain. Bleck!

I have 2 wellies out and 2 zipping right now from the New Years hatch. I was worried that they may not be pure, since the roosters were only separated for a week (Moose is head roo though), but they do look pure. (My other rooster has a HUGE beard and feathered shanks and neither of the chicks have beards/feathered shanks) And from the eyeliner, the 2 that are out both look like girls.

Question though: My prior hatch of wellie eggs (in September when both roosters were running together) resulted in 3 cockerals. All of them have yellow legs. (really yellow) So my question for you genetic guru's, my olive egger has black legs with white on the bottom of his feet. If any of them were fathered by him, their legs wouldn't be yellow, right? (I'm not keeping any of them, so no worries on polluting my stock - they'll be dinner, just curious on the genetics) White and black is dominant to yellow legs, correct?

Gosh I hope that's clear - didn't sleep much last night.
