and Welcome to the Welsummer thread!

5 hens and one roo should be just fine.

You can get by with five, like I have.

Sometimes I would have a trio of Welsummer Bantams and they did fine.

yes it all depends on the roo's temperment and how his drive or has a favorite hen? If he rides her too much, pulling all the feathers off from her, then he needs to go to the bachelors pen or get a saddle for the favorite hen if she still wants his advances.

Hello all,

The day has finally arrived. One of my five Welsummers laid an egg today (along with my barred rock pullet). Can you guess which one is from the Welsummer?

I do have some questions. I recently bought a HovaBator 1602N from a friend. This is my first incubator. Has anyone used this type of incubator before? Any more tips/advice?

Thanks

Well, I have been planning on selling four of my roosters, but it turns out I'm going to have to sell my Wellie too

So, I guess once I sell him... *sniff sniff* But, the good news is that, where I am from, Wellies are VERY rare and I talked to a neighbor who said that around these parts he'd be worth $10-15

But, I think he's worth much more
