Sorry Hens, it's very hard to see in this photo, but I think I can make out the little bullseye in the circle.

That's what I wondered, even with a good camera it can be difficult-put a couple in the incubator so we will see when we candle in a couple of day

It varies on the rooster(s) - I personally use 8 hens and 2 roosters in a breeding range. Generally I do 1 rooster for each 4-5 hens. If a rooster is aggressive with hens hens or humans, he does not stay here very long - everbody gets along here, or they are gone!

Even if I only have 2 hens, I still keep 2 roosters, for genetic reasons.

I don't see as much 'red spot' as I see in mine, but who am I to talk

Well, I have been planning on selling four of my roosters, but it turns out I'm going to have to sell my Wellie too

So, I guess once I sell him... *sniff sniff* But, the good news is that, where I am from, Wellies are VERY rare and I talked to a neighbor who said that around these parts he'd be worth $10-15

But, I think he's worth much more

Locally i sell my mid sized for $8 each. If they are shabby looking I charge $10, if they are good looking but a cull I generally get 10-15 each. If they are nice roosters for breeding 15-25. I sell most of my cull roosters to the Hmong People - they pay good $ for red roosters up here. I sold some bantam roosters that were decent, but I had better for $50 each because they are crowing.

Louie, why the change of heart to sell your rooster...I know he is not the BEST specimen out there. I saw your post on the Yahoo Welsummer post about it.

I don't remember how to get back to the Wellie page to see what I posted! So, I don't know what I said

Nate - I think that my Wellie boy is beautiful and would be great for breeding, but I don't know what people look for in Wellies

What people look into Wellies are these:

Egg color
Beauty
Temperment
Frugal/easy keeper
Disposition
Good egg production in hens
Good bloodlines

Does that help you?

Post some pics of him - we could give you an insight. If you are not selling any hens with hen/or have hens to go with him, the price people will pay is usually less. What line did he come from? Where did you get him from?
