I see three boys for sure, also. I think that this is really wonderful that we can do online, kind of like a Welsummers Basic course, while helping all of us.
I guess I'm going to have to accept that nothing is going to hatch from my Wellie eggs. I am sick about it. I simply cannot understand what happened. The eggs were packed beautifully, and they seemed to proceed on schedule. The only thing I noticed after the post office had them is that the air sacs seemed loose to me from transit. They rested 24 hours, and then since embryos were eventually growing, I gave that no more worry. Is it possible that shipped eggs with slipped sacs can still grow embryos but not to term? Pink, is there any chance I can buy some more from you, or have you put your flock all together now? I want to stress to folks here that this problem was NOT Pink's fault!!!! Her eggs were all fertile, and they could not have been better packed. And I don't really think it was my fault, either. I'm an experienced hatcher, and I put these in my very best incubator (my Brinsea Advance EX -- very precise temp and humidity control). The other eggs I had in with them hatched fine. So that leaves the post office -- I think we should all blame it on them. Who's with me????
Beesong, sometimes with the BEST packaging, sometimes eggs failed to hatch at all. USPS does a good job of messing with our eggs. Sometimes loose air sacs do develop all right thru incubaton but when it is closer to hatch, they all die. Not sure if the placement of the loose air sac has something to do with the chick's mortality. Frustrating for me but I keep going!

I am very very sorry and sad to hear that Kate.
Of course you can have more eggs my friend, I have not put them out to pasture yet because the demand for them is still coming in. I don't have anyone scheduled for April 11th for Wellie eggs, so would you like those? PM me and we will work out all the details. I am with you on blaming the post office and rough handling....a dear friend of mine in Florida received Marans eggs from me and the box had been used to play a game of soccer with I swear. She only has one chick that hatched from many many eggs that were sent. The box was so bad it actually had holes in it and was creased. Now tell me how in the world do you crease one of those USPS boxes...and I ain't talkin' a small little crease either. I was in shock when she posted photos of the box upon arrival. 2 folks received very damaged boxes and both had horrible hatches.
Talk to you soon and keep smiling.....we will get you some Wellies!
The usps did a rough job on the eggs i have going now as well, they shipped from WA (Erhard Weihs) to NC...5 of 14 broke, air sacs were in horrible condition.
They, too, were packaged well in my opinion and I have had 8 of the 9 i put in the bator show development and some movement, they go in lockdown tonight, so we'll see what happens.
I plan to get more eggs from Erhard in the future and hope the usps isn't so rough with the next ones.
