Tell me what you think about the disposition of those 2 breeds. I have 6 Welsummers (from Cackle Hatchery) and they aren't very friendly. If I'm going to move them or check them over I wait until night or they just freak out! They are also very vocal, I think. Would love to hear your experience.
My wellies are curious and friendly, although they do not like to be handled. They are most definitely not lap chickens. I do have 1 girl that is a bit on the flighty side (she'll still come for treats though), but when she was introduced to the flock, she was abused by the others pretty badly and she has not forgotten it. They do love to sing their egg song and want the whole world to hear it.
My barnevelders are very calm and mellow. They are probably the most "laid back" breed I have hatched so far. Mine aren't lap chickens, because I don't work on making them lap chickens - though it probably wouldn't be hard.
