The Welsummer Thread!!!!

I got what I thought were 3 Welsummers from the feed store in town. One turned out to be an EE, but I am ok with that. Now they are 38 days old and one of my Wellie girls has starting growing feathers on her feet. I dont think its a normal this for Wellies is it? She is a Wellie isn't she?

I don't think she look that much like one anyways, but don't even take my word in because im know were near a expert on them! and have had no experience with young one, I got my two as hens

Hi Soldier,

What are the chicks in your picture? They don't look like Sunny when she was a chick. That is an awesome photo
I fooled my Welsummer and put guinea eggs under her. She has 15 guinea chicks. That is why my husband said she probably has no idea she is raising terrorists. They sometimes really rile things up in the chicken house!

Howdy Neighbor! (I live up the freeway from you approx. 10 miles or so) Welcome to the Wellie thread! Cute pullet and like Ewesheep says.... don't worry about the feather stubs if you are going to be using her for laying eggs only.

Question for those who have been raising wellies for a while. At what age, as an average should I expect my wellies to start laying? I know with some breeds they can start as early as 4 months. I don't expect my welsummers to lay that early. Just wondering what the average is for those who have been keeping welsummers for a while. Thanks.
