the Will They Hatch? thread

So I've come to one conclusion... all the eggs I've set from my hatchery Golden Lakenvelder are lacking something... they develop and quit. I had two of hers set, and they just up and died before pipping. Yolk absorbed and all... I candled and I could clearly see feet so I opened em up, and dead. Oh well... I know not to set hers from now on!

Got 4 BLRW hatched outta the 5 that went into lockdown... one is still just hummin along in the bator. Will leave it for a few more days. One polish hatched, and several mystery chicks from my barnyard eggs..
This is an interesting colored chick.. named Patch for the strange color patch over its eye

Cabinet still zooming along, no temp drops or spikes, has me wonderin when Murphy will kick in

Yeah, I think those golf balls must have been the final insult to her. That was hilarious.

Well, this thread got so big I've kinda lost track of what's happening with everyone's eggs. I've read the last few pages but I can see I've missed LOADS of chat. My update: The second part of my staggered hatch went not too bad and I got three nice healthy chicks out of four eggs that made it to lockdown. There are another nine still in the bator on day 12 at the moment. All of them looked good at day 6. One since got bashed and another got a tiny hole pecked in it. I'm going to candle on day 15 and adjust humidity if neecessary.

And when I get some more time I'm going to read back through this whole thread!

Oh you guys... none of my TJ's eggs are good.

I'm on day 10-11 which means the inner portion of the egg should be pretty dark where there's a chick. The "control" egg (one from my own flock) is a dark brown shell but very easy to tell that it's full of chick. The light brown TJ eggs... not so much. I'm not willing to give up on 2 of them completely (although I'm pretty sure they're duds), but the rest are definitely clear. Poop.

And I've managed to break banty of her broodyness so now I'm going to be raising this chick myself... if it hatches.

My eggs were doing great until I switched them to an LG for lockdown tonight. Not as reliable at temps as my Brower, but better on humidity. Now I'm crazy with worry, but feeling sick and going to bed. Just praying the temp holds overnight.
