I have decided I can't go out on school nights. I have just managed to catch up on everything. Beth, got a pic, but they were moving so fast isn't that great. The one no longer lonely BLRW has 7 Blue Marans to keep her company. I finally gave up on the last BM and candled it again and decided it was a quitter and it was when I opened it. Disconnect the hatcher for cleaning and went to update my Chicken spreadsheet and low and behold, I missed my next lock down date. Had it in my mind that it was the 25th but the next batch was supposed to go in last night. Cleaned quickly and it is coming up to temp for the next and last batch of Will They Hatch eggs. these didn't get as many cooling as the others.

You know my op is, when someone ships eggs to you like this, they deserve to have you give us their name so we don't order from them. There is no excuse to ship eggs in the carton like that.

As for will they hatch? What have you got to lose? Go for it.

Awww cute! Hey you had the 25th in mind...that is your hatch day if you locked down last night.
I just hatched out 6 runner ducks. I had to move them out of the incubator into the hatcher & hand turn because I needed the room in the bator. They should have locked down Monday night and hatch Wed. I was turning Monday afternoon and found 2 pips. They hatched Tues. morning and last night. 2 days early. lol
Worked out good since my next batch of chicken eggs move into the hatcher Fri. They are bantams, I may move them in Thrus...just in case.

These were free eggs testing an experimental packaging; and the shipper packed them as directed by a near-by hatchery. Naturally I'm not giving you nor anyone else the name of the shipper. They were shipped through a blizzard with subzero temps, took the entire week to get here, and obviously took a hard hit somewhere enroute. Twelve eggs packaged identically went a different direction that day; they arrived in perfect condition and ten of twelve hatched today. I'm not keen on useing hard plastic cartons with the eggs in direct contact with the carton, but the cartons are designed for shipping eggs and those eggs were too large to have any kind of buffer added inside the carton. I'm not sure any kind of packageing would have saved all of the eggs from the hit that box took.

Of the five going in my bator, two were cracked [as suspected] and never developed; three are in lockdown. All of my own 30 eggs are clears; I figured since about one in twenty prooved fertile the week before setting, I might get a fertile or two; but no such luck.

They'll be fine. I just posted the other day to someone who had not turned and let them know, some people do not turn.

Someone else came in who owned a business and they had eggs hatch that were for a customer. They were moving their store and forgot the eggs, so there ya go. LOL

I'm putting this link here for anyone who can't remember or doesn't know the hatch schedule. Just put in your set date and it gives you the info and you can even print it out.

Congrats to all the new chickie hatches and for those with temp spikes and temp drops, don't give up. I've heard of people finding this problem and starting over when all they needed to do was wait it out.

Thanks Wolfie! I've been fretting about having to put the turner in and adjust the temp because they will be a different hight. (Still air 'bator) You've put my mind at ease.

That app is great, I use it every hatch.

Well if your satisfied then I am too, but this is the right way to ship eggs. Same size box and 26 eggs not a one broke. From Georgia to NY. I've seen some really nasty messes on byc over the years. Glad things turned out well for you. I worked for the PO so I know things can happen.
