awww... now im wanting to try to throw a duck egg or two if i come across some too! @steveh, yes i was afraid of father still not old enough even with females brooding and seeing him mating and twice size, but might have been mislead and dreaming than the mother/daughters to other roo who died, being small would naturally produce small babies (though working as small animal e assistant i should have known better than to even dream was different with birds). yes sadly im making probly rookie mistake and just incubating all eggs together about week apart for each of the three kinds of five now (havent even gotten the dutch/old English yet, the ones i originally wanted to try aside from my rosecomb, and maybe seramas in future). now have orbington? egg as well. im trying to find more chain link fence panels to expand my yard, and so far my neighbors think my one gimpy hen is cute to have out during day, as my area is zoned for agriculture, and neighbors have roosters and horses that are right up on property line close, and alot have whole fields of game cocks tied out to little bucket houses. assuming all are game cock fighters like most ive seen and heard about, but could be some show birds as well hopefully?
pit bulls kept the same way, which is odd cause pit bulls are illegal here, but law not enforced. i know its the training or lack there of though, and most cops and people here dont care anyway.

I just candled the 104 degree eggs and I see at least 7 of the 14 that look good on day 4 (shipped). So I didn't destroy them after all. What a relief! I didn't pull the iffy ones yet.

They'll be fine. I just posted the other day to someone who had not turned and let them know, some people do not turn.

Someone else came in who owned a business and they had eggs hatch that were for a customer. They were moving their store and forgot the eggs, so there ya go. LOL

I'm putting this link here for anyone who can't remember or doesn't know the hatch schedule. Just put in your set date and it gives you the info and you can even print it out.

Congrats to all the new chickie hatches and for those with temp spikes and temp drops, don't give up. I've heard of people finding this problem and starting over when all they needed to do was wait it out.

Love the APP! I wonder if there's one for my droid??!! I've still got ONE egg in the bator... sigh. Poor lonely mutt chickie. I don't even know who its momma is. Hopefully someone will have a friend for it around here. It's supposed to hatch Saturday. Oh and another $%)(* chicken went broody today in the coop.

And one of my mom's chickens (white leghorns without a rooster) burrowed UNDER her coop, stole 9 eggs and is laying on them. I had no idea that chickens could burrow. I guess she wanted to be a mom something fierce.
