the Will They Hatch? thread

The still airs are very sencitive to fluctuating room temperatures. I try to maintain a steady temperature of 72/74 in a small room by blocking off the furnace duct and running a small electric heater in that room instead.

I ended up stabilizing the temp after viewing a video that I found, I think by way of BYC (wish I could find it for you!) that explains something that you may already know, but thought I'd share it with you just in case... It has to do with putting your thermostat close enough to the light to narrow the temp range usually incurred by using a water heater thermostat. Being close to the light (around a couple of inches, depending on the wattage of your bulb, etc) makes the thermostat feel more heat from the radiant heat of the light, and thus shut off faster, reducing the swings in temp. If the temp is stabilizing at too high a temp than you want, then you move the thermostat slightly away from the light, but still facing it. Hope this makes sense...I'm really sleepy as I write this...

Also wanted to mention that 3 of my questionable eggs have hatched!! we are very happy as we have 3 little girls who each have picked one out and christened with a ridiculous name that fits them perfectly.

The remaining 4 show no signs of hatching, but I'm hopeful as its only day 22 and I've heard of people hatching at day 25 (especially with all my eggs have been through!)

I guess an hour in the 80 degree range wasn't deadly to my eggs on day 17, because 4 have hatched now on day 20! Lots more seem to be working on getting out. 32 to went into lock-down. This is exciting!

I got 50 eggs that are on day 4 still air experimantal hatch can I join LOL I eggtopsied one earlier it was fully developed but had alot of liquid inside of it. I doubt any will hatch but oh well

OK I have the answer before the question.

I was so tired last night and couldn't sleep. I had a hatch one the 19th that went until late last night and was checking chicks.

I started to think about lockdown for my 26th hatch and something made me think I may have had one before that, so I ran to the other room to the bator to make sure. I saw the next hatch for the 26th and then I have April hatches, so NOPE nothing inbetween. BUT WAIT!!!!

Last egg I checked said 3/19! OMG I missed and and lost an egg. I decided since they were still hatching I'd just throw it in the hatcher and toss it when I toss the others. As I got in the hall I heard a faint peep. I looked closer and there was a tiny tiny pip. Stuck it in the hatcher and it hatched this morning.

Will it hatch?

It did!
