How long ago , I think there's a typo . I did alot wrong on my other two hatches , and had like a 4 hr power outage also . I was still blessed with hatched chicks , so hang in there .

I think we started at the same time, I did 9 PM here... eastern time.

Maybe we'll both be seeing pips at the same time in 21 days

All the ones I didn't see, I set aside. Will open em all up tomorrow, and check... into a skillet to scramble for my flock! Gee, that sounds kinda morbid, don't it

I'm on day 10 of my first hatch in a home made incubator. I've got 6 trader joe eggs in there and a dozen eggs from a local house that sells fresh eggs using the honor system. take eggs out of fridge in shed and leave money in can. I candled them and it looks like I have 4/18 growing. Two others look like they have a "blood ring". The rest have no sign of activity. I'll be thrilled if I get one chick out of this batch. My home made incubator was rock steady for 3 days. I put the eggs in and it has been a wild roller coaster ride. We had the power out all day today... only time will tell.

Thanks for the well wishes Snowhunter .

I feed mine to chicks and dogs both . I was half afraid to open suspected clears on day 22 , so I put the first two in baggies before cracking . They were clear and smelled ok , though looked thicker than a fresh egg , so I cooked them for my dogs , and even cooking they smelled ok .

As a grade school kid , me and a bud cleaned our coop of all the unhatched eggs from the banties that spring . We discovered some made excellent , explodeing , stink grenades ................... not nearly so much fun was cleaning up the mess when Mother came home and asked me what I thought would happen if Dad came home before that smell was gone LOL .

I obviously should have picked up the roadside eggs that were calling me this morning, ah well, I shall grab them tomorrow.

I need to go to town early and they are only a mile from home so I won't need to rest them long.

I'm considering trying a batch from the other place I get eggs but they are already in a fridge when I get them and I'm not certain there is a roo around. When I crack them some look fertile though not a lot of them. Guess there is only one way to know...
