the Will They Hatch? thread

Congrats on everyone's chicks and pips!

I have the hatcher warming at the moment. I got home later than expected so the first round of eggies is going into lockdown late on day 19.

I hope they are ok, I'm debating if I should candle them or just put them all in the hatcher and

My others go into lockdown in 2 days

so I hope the first lot hatch out on time. Don't particularly want to hatch in the main 'bator and get it all dirty but at least there isn't a 3rd lot of eggs coming along behind them so I can if I need too.

*Note to self* Don't set eggs 4 days apart!!!

I'm hopefully getting parts tomorrow (according to the tracking info) so I can build a hatcher this week...

Thanks Steve! I think your chicken whispering is working because...

I have a pip! I have a pip!

Little critter peeped at me when I shone the torch on it, so cute.

They'd only been in lockdown a little over 12 hours when I found it first thing this morning and it must have been piped for a while, it's a BIG pip!

Only early on day 20 so I'm surprised to say the least. End of day 21 isn't till midnight tomorrow so I wasn't expecting to wake up to fuzzy butts for another two whole days!

Want some mutts that'll be half naked necked?

THANK YOU! However - over the weekend it appears that I may have a functioning rooster - meaning, hopefully some eggs from my own sweet hens. I have to wait until 10 days after mating for the eggs to be fertile correct?

My hatch is due today and nothing. Woke up to 108 spike 2 days ago and a drop to 96 this morning

I'm hoping that spike wasn't a long one.

Figure these are the most expensive eggs I've bought in a few months and the 3 TJ eggs.

eta...................hear a faint peep!

I'm having a tough time holding humidity in my cabinet bator..... its been up and down today. I finally got it restabalized at 50%, so that should do. (I've got the digital thermo/hygro down by the eggs in the bottom for a more accurate reading at thier level) After this, it'll just be for incubation, so it runs great... now hopefully some hatch... its makin me nervous

I've read here at BYC that its 10 days; my neighbor says 7.

Whatever, he wants to buy eggs from my Ameraucana x Speckled Sussex pen to hatch, so he may get some with only 7 days time on them. [I warned him I thought it takes 10 days, and that they were exposed to my other cockerals untill last week]

The first two blue eggs I cracked today were fertile; looks like either my CX or DC roos are at work now too. I saved the rest to sneak in a small setting this week; and clear the bator before Mahonri's Easter Hatch { https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=447147&p=1 }; by that time, hopefully, my fertility could be approaching 100%.

I will wait the full ten days then. I would, for once, like to EAT some eggs. I know it sounds crazy but...I am sick of having all these hens and having to buy eggs. My neighbors occasionally ask for eggs. I am embarrassed to admit I don't have any.
