......................... but probably for the best.
I've never even seen a pic of one in down, but the one with black slashes looks kinda faux exchequered. Sometimes I've seen dominate whites crossed with black feather out mostly white with a few random black spots.

I'm sad but I think it was for the best too. I was really hoping there would be improvement this morning.

Dominant white was the only thing I could think of too. I told it it better be a girl 'cause I like it and if it's a girl it can stay in the layer flock.

RBF sorry you had to put the lil chickie down

Today is day 21! I had 2 pips last night, woke up to several chicks!

The humidity down at the bottom of the bator is only 37% and I can't get it any higher, ugh! But no shrink wrap and they're all hatching!!! Its a MESS though! I should have spread the eggs out more. Oh well. I don't intend to hatch in this bator anymore... I've got my GQF parts, came today, got screws, hinges, hasps, sealant, paint, and S4S plywood, so I'll be busy building my hatcher this week, yay!

On another note, eggs that were mailed out LAST Tuesday FINALLY arrived today

So they'll be getting set tonight, here in a few minutes actually. I SO hope some hatch!!! Jeremy has been terrific, and if the hatch doesn't go well, he's still willing to replace them for me. 2 dozen with 6 extras, Oh I hope they hatch!!!!

well progress seems to have halted after the temp flux, and there have been some power spikes around my place to i think, for my rosecomb egg. my oribington egg seems to be getting so dark and full seeming, i cannot see anything but an air sack, and some under week till due date, so sudden whatever going on is hope fully good. cant see in three marans eggs, due in week or right about before orbington... well might have said orbinton bit to soon. five fighting bird, or odd plain egg layers are doing something, with three definitely progressing (figures itd be the bigger ones with mud poop and blood all over them???), and two showing something i think promising but not a lot. poor test eggs, but at least i just got ones that were going to be smashed/tossed, so they had a half a chance at least. so everyone worried around me who thought id be surprisingly over run with chicks, will probly be pleased ill only have five maybe at most, even better if all hens (hehehe who wants to be theyll all be roosters that hatch, or only one or two hens at most?).

I have a few out now, but no more pips. One pipped but only a teeny tiny whole like the first one punched and then nothing. No movement, not crack in the pip, so I checked it and there was blood dripping out. I think it must have tried to pip through a vein. I picked of a very tiny piece and it was dead in the shell. One of my Wellies too

So nothing happening right now and doesn't look like those TJ eggs are going to do anything. I think they quit, but leaving them just in case.

Since all of my birds are laying now I'm keeping my bators full

If these TJ eggs hatch I'll actually have white egg layers

i had three "egg laying whites", as they call white leg horns i guess around here, and they said they mixed them with game birds (fighting birds), to try to make them more broody and hardy, and i picked the three that had black spots and looked like above shown/mentioned. my one hen, had big off colored comb compared to most hens, and she was the very aggressive and out going middle sized chick, while two roosters, one way bigger, and one way smaller were shy till started turning to cockrels and she was definately the boss for monthes. my big rooster got more black spots and purple lobes and some sheen and color, and was horribly mean progressively to everything but cat from start, but runt roo, stayed sweetest thing and low hardly ever crowing, even when got rid of beastly huge mean birdzlla (looked like huge game cock, and would go after wild foul, and hawks, and win!). so if roo, maybe either very sweet wimp you might have to continue to coddle as house pet, or good guard dog, that will kill anything that tries to mess with hen/s and you/your property (family and neighbors said birdzilla must have been at least half turkey... lol). also told odd, as locked hen in small barred wire bottomed cage alone, locked in bathroom in dark, and id still got sometimes three eggs a day of differant sizes only one sometimes being banty to med and others med to jumbo still. know wasnt joke someone played as was home mostly and i see her having just layed three eggs when checked in morn, or two found in morn, and one at night. told chickens usually only lay one egg every day or less, and only few instances found of two eggs daily... anyone care to elaborate as to how couldnt be seeing things and insane??? i had been for small time feeding her special food for sick animals to boost nutritional intake, as well as proteins, fats, and carbs (was vet assistant but not knowledgeable specifically as much as would like to be in avian stuff yet so someone teach me!!!), but she stayed skin, feathers, lean muscle, and bones, but vet said was healthy.
