My chicks from this hatch are purebred Ameraucana's and the rest are various breeds mixed with my Ameraucana Roo. SteveH I know how you don't like hair on the legs but are fond of Ameraucana's so I have to share that I have two little hairy legged Brahmacauna's! Cute little puffy cheeks....and hair on their legs!

Can't wait to see what they grow up to look like!

Love to join you! I have about 6 dozen in now that should be hatching this week.
I had bought a used cabinet incubator, and it just had the thermometer that it came with (like a meat thermometer). Nothing to check humidity. After having 3 dozen develop, and then not hatch I bought a second "mini" cabinet that came with a digital thermomator that does inside & outside temperature plus inside humidity. Come to find out my original cabinet wasn't at 99.5 like I thought, but over 101.

I was baking my poor babies!
Now I have the "mini" set-up as my hatcher, so I don't have to worry about the humidity being too high for the newer eggs in bator.
This morning I finally gave up on the 3 dozen that were due out late week, and pitched them. I have 2 dozen that were due out Tuesday that I refuse to give up on yet.

After pitching the eggs I did I went to move the ones due this weekend over, and to my surpise I have a peeper & a very loud one at that:ya I'm hoping it comes out all the way and has lots of company too:fl

Thanks everyone...

Candled the last 2 eggs. 1 was a stink bomb in the making. The other had bubbles & junk floating around.

Really Really wanted these ducks.

thanks WOLFTRACKS. well, the buff orbington (maybe mixed with whatever rooster got on her) egg is so dark almost all around and only tiny air sac, in it with others, so wondering if efforts to keep humidity up, have worked to well, and i need to open the second vent. ??? the marans eggs i can see light now through two, and darkness in rest of those eggs like orbington. the game eggs two or three seem to be definitely developing and dancing around in their, but other two that were in perfect shape and middle of bator seem to be slow if still or actually at all growing. figures the perfect centered in bator eggs are seemingly slow to duds, and the scratched filthy ones on edge kept away from other "good ones" are seeming great (maybe cause i kinda just left the cruddy ones alone and off to side more out of way before?).
on a side note, its safe to say its a good idea to try to take my hen to breed her, if she keeps "presenting" at/to me, whenever i start at her in movement or even sometimes just look at and say name. ive been feeding her by hand and this seems to be encouraging this, though she has been losing weight as having to force her out and close door, so she doesnt just brood in her cage all the time more and more, rejecting the nest box of straw now, and making tore up paper nest in between it and water and food cups. she isnt laying yet, but will she lay more, or at all if i breed her (always just had hens and roosters)?
