. I think this is the one? I got 9 new chickens yesterday from a breeder, but I dont really know what all I got. She was maming off breeds and I was just in shock looking at the 200 birds roaming all over the place. My husband was in the car ready to leave me there! She showed me her incubator full of eggs and I was so excited!!! It has become an obsession with me now!! I am up to 22 chickens and I still want Silkies! I am running out of places to put them. I used a pack n play yesterday for chicks (4) but they might fly out of that soon.
22 birds,,haha chicken math at its finest..welcome to the wonderful world of chickens and..

I am soooo in that same boat. My dreams of having 4 - 5 decent layers has now gotten me overrun with 17 chicks, 3 groups of them are 4 weeks apart. And I would LOVE to add silkies!

I am still waiting for eggs! This has been a crazy ride! I bought 6 pullets from Craig's list and told the lady I only wanted hens! They turned out to be all Roosters and they are not getting along! I gave away 4 of them and kept 2, and now these 2 that were the under dogs are picking on each other. So I went out and bought 4 laying hens and a bunch of chicks. I wonder if I will ever get an egg! They are deffinately keeping me busy!

I' m new to all of this, but I've read the hen to roo ratio should be 10:1. I hope you get some eggs soon!

So I cant put grown rooster in with small chickens right? I have to wait til they are all the same size? I have 4 hens in one pen, 2 roosters in one pen, and a bunch of chicks in one pen.

How old are the chicks? I put my chicks out with my older ones when they were 5-6 weeks old, they got picked on for a few days but nothing serious just pecking order squables. I would add the chicks in with your hens wait a couple weeks then put your Roos in thats if you want fertile eggs if not keep the roos in there own coop and run.
