The Wyandotte Thread

Those are beautiful. Do you have any pics of the adults?
I only have chicks they are $ 35 each at Chicken Ridge Farm + shipping . I was thinking that I would sale my extras at 15 weeks and try and get some of my money back.

If you originally paid $35 for them, I'd try $50-60 per adult, I didn't realize they were so expensive.

Sexing a Wyandotte at 10 weeks can be done by examining the neck/cape and saddle feathers. A pullet will have rounded tips and the cockerels will be pointed.
I watch the wattles too. Usually the cockerels will redden up faster.
Next, I look for a spur button on the inside of the leg above the feet. Rarely a pullet will have a button, but it can papoen.

I have Columbian Wyandotte, a few Blues, a few Blacks, a quad of White, a trio of Barred and a few Blue Columbian. In the past I had some Silver laced, Blue Laced Red and Black Birchen.
If you can't tell, Wyandotte is my favorite breed.

She is definitely a pullet. The second photo shows very clear rounded tips on the feathers along her back and approaching the tail. A cockerel would have pointed tips.

Stellar the featherless wonder roo. Well hopefully a roo lol. He (being hopeful) does have pointed feathers coming in but only 5 and 1/2 weeks so we'll see!
