The Wyandotte Thread

Wyandotte can be super sweet.

However, there are differences between the full size and bantam, and the colors.

So..

Sliver laced are supposed to be the best layers. They are not as likely to be pet-like.

My bantam partridge and bantam blue Wyandotte have been very sweet.

I have only 1 blue girl right now, and she is excellent.

The bantam blue laced reds I had were almost as sweet (but not the males ), but their laying was horrid.

My current blue girl lays decently.

In general I have found that bantams make better pets.
Thanks! I've only had bantams for a short time so I'm excited to Wyandotte bantam source!!!

Watching this thread as I'm thinking of buying a breeding flock of Silver Laced Wyandottes.

How has everyone's experiences been with personality, broodiness and egg production of Wyandottes? Would you recommend standard or bantam?

Silver laced and white standard sized Wyandotte will be the best layers and the least broody. They are usually not as sweet/pet quality as some of the other colors.

Other colors will probably lay a bit less and be more likely to be broody as well as be friendlier.

Bantams are most likely to be broody.

I have found bantams to also be the sweetest.
