May I ask why no splash or black laced varieties of the BLRW? Since all three are produced in a BLR breeding program, I don't understand excluding them from being shown.

Plus, I have to admit, I LOVE my splash BLRW pullet:

My BLRW have started laying! I've got seven eggs in my Brinsea Mini Advanced incubator and all seven are developing with 8 more days until hatch day...

BLRW hatching eggs available for sale. (Splash pullet shown X dark blue cockerel and splash cockerel)
lots of photos on my backyardchicken blog.

I doubt I'll be able to take the trip to the show, but I'm curious how this would get them accepted into the Standard. Doesn't some kind of formal application have to be made?

I would love too go,but all of mine that are old enough are splashes.
I got my chicks in today got 22 and most are dark chicks so that means more blues and some blks. Just 5 are splash. So I think thats darn good.
Wish they were old enought to show as I would go for the fun and to learn from it.
Best of Luck to all that are going to show there! Please keep us posted on how things go.

I hope that NYRed might jump in here and correct me if I am wrong...but splash is not an accepted color variety for wyandottes at shows and I know that the BLRW in Germany can only be shown in the Blue version. Similar to the APA accepted variety of Blue Wyandottes...you cant show a splash version of the Blue Wyandotte.

Also if somewhere down the road the Wyandotte Club or a group of BLRW breeders do attempt to get the BLRW in the Standard it would be easier and more uniform to do the blue laced red...there is a big difference between the look of a blue laced red and a splash laced red, it would be confusing at best.

I would think that the first step in getting BLRW accepted in the APA would be getting all the different lines of BLRW to actually look similar..If you had BLRW at shows that didnt even look like they were the same breed....it wouldnt even be worth the attempt to get them in the standard....it would be a good idea to get poultry fanciers actually exhibiting them at shows before you attempt a gigantic undertaking of getting them accepted into the APA. If a lot of people start showing them it would also help perk up the interest of the Wyandotte Club in helping to get them in the APA Standard...which in my opinion would be a must.

My BLRW Challenge is not a big major event....I would love to see a good entry of BLRW at the Columbus Show, but if I am the only one who enters them at the National....well so be it.

I still don't understand why Splash and Black Laced would not be recognized if it's a known fact that Blue Laced Red programs will produce Splash and Black Laced. That just doesn't make any sense to me at all! Am I just dense or does this make sense to the rest of you?

Of course I also have some beautiful Blue Laced (no black laced yet ~ which I find interesting), but even breeding two Blue Laced to each other, one will get some Splash laced. How could they not be recognized?

I really have to get a camera, don't even have one on my cell phone so I don't have any good pics of them. And the poor roo died early this morning, just buried him. Sad, I really liked him after being so sure that I didn't want a roo at all.

Here's some updated pictures of my bantys (some are a little blurred btw)

Pepper (has the GL gene in her):

Can anyone tell me if Cookie is any good quality or type? Her lacing is pretty good some feathers have a little mossiness to them but then again she's a pullet. Her tail is ust starting to fill in. Also she has nice yellow legs if you can't see.
