The Wyandotte Thread

Are BLRW late bloomers? I have 2 very nice friendly BLRW hens--nice and big and healthy, from a reputable local breeder. But they are 30 weeks old and still no eggs...Are they known for being late layers?

Ok here are my baby wyandottes. This is my first chick batch to start me into the world of chicken owner. I picked the Wyandotte breed to try as they are really lovely birds and rate as both excellent egglayers and meat birds.

My chicks are very curious and friendly so far.

I just got a 4-5 month old pair from Turbo pick them up on the 21st. I can't wait till they and my other ones start laying. Your pics make me want to fast forward to that day! Very cute!

Anyone coming to the Sussex County Poultry Show in NJ this Saturday? I have a beautiful dark BLRW roo - born this past April - available. He is a great size and beautiful color. I can take recent pics if desired (I hope). I'd rather him go to a BYCer who would breed him than give him to someone I know. If I don't find a good home for him there I'll be taking him to the Ohio National if anyone wants him.

How can you tell right off the bat if the darker ones will be black laced or blue laced in color? Its so hard for me to tell....is there a secret to knowing?

Look up pictures of Daniel Jerome's birds. Make sure you check for stubs, as well. Saw a very nice looking wyandotte bantam get DQd this past weekend for stubs.
