THANK YOU MRS TURBO.. We love our birds

I am glad you like them and you get the bonus of eggs too.... Was great to meet you and your friend Caron.

Wendy'sChicksRock :

I dont plant to hatch them but caron has a bator. Should we bother trying it? The kids were still talking about helping you catch those chickens...

yeah.... that was not fun but your boys sure do like to run down chickens.
They should be pure BLRWs if you hatch them. We had them locked in the barn stall with some BLRW roosters. They were good size eggs for pullets, but that is one thing we were working on....egg size. they will get bigger.

I agree completly with Wendy'sChicksRock! THANK YOU MRS TURBO! The 2 BLR pullets I got from you are doing great!(I was the long haired 14 year old boy at Columbus, not sure if I told you my BYC name lol). They look amazing standing side by side with Constantine( my black BLR roo). I look forward to ordering chicks from you in the spring:)

Yup....I remember. I am always excited to meet kids interested in chickens as much as we are. I didn't ask if you show anything, but it is a ton of fun and there are some pretty good shows in KY. There is another JR that lives where you live. Tyler Messer from showbantams.com I think that is his website.

I am wanting to create a self-perpetuating flock but want some variety, can I just get a bunch of different Wyandottes and keep a roo and let them make babies? I have no idea, I don't mind reading but searching for the answers is time consuming, books or someone experienced to give me the information would be great. I am not interested in show birds but more of a sustainable homesteading flock.

This is my favorite SLW. Can anyone tell me if she has any quality to her? I can't get her to give me a good rear shot yet. I finally got what I think a decent head shot a couple of weeks ago. The first 2 pictures we're taken last week, she's about 16wks in the first pictures.

kelliepulido- I love your splash hen! Personally, I think splash BLR's are some of the most beutiful chickens. I don't really know much about quality, but to me she looks great. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get her?
