I hope you all get some Partridge. They need people and the best way to get the breed going is to get lots of people raising lots of chicks! Especially these tough color varieties! Sometimes you hatch 15 and only like 1. So if you want to keep about 6 or 8 you need 100 chicks
Maybe I'm too picky, but you have to move forward every year. If you don't improve, you go backward. But if more people have them, the gene pool spreads out fast and I think the birds really improve fast. Look at white rocks, for example. There are probably 10000 people that raise decent white rocks and you can find pretty good ones at almost every 4-h fair--maybe not fabulous ones, but definitely not hatchery quality. I wish that that was what you could find in GL, SP and Partridge. Silvers have come a long way and you could probably find silvers that beat whites regularly. The problem with the silvers is that some judges just won't pick them because they're silver. They might have better wyandotte type the whites, but they aren't white....
