I want to talk about the Rare Varieties of Wyandotte bantams for a moment. There are numerous varieties of Wyandotte Bantams that are accepted into the ABA standard but are super rare, if they exist at all. I am just curious is anyone has any experience with these varieties or has ever seen them. I knew of one breeder who raised some of them when I first got into the Wyandotte bantams about 15 years ago, but he sold all of his stock and doesnt raise anything anymore.
The Varieties I am asking about are the following:
Black Breasted Red
Blue Breasted Red
Birchen
Brown Red
Lemon Blue
There are a few other rare varieties that are seen in small numbers and are growing in popularity.
Buff Columbian
Barred
White Laced Red
Violet Laced
I just wanted to throw this out to see if anyone knows any information about them. I know from my Rare Varieties book how to create several of the varieties but wanted to know if there are some long lost flocks of them out there or if they are lost to perpetuity.
